Today, just five years ago, Dutch star-DJ Martin Garrix decided to take the great leap and start his own record company and studio, right from his base in Amsterdam. STMPD RCRDS was born, and now, all these years down the line, the label for all things electronic music has evolved to one of the biggest players and most ecstatic game-changers in the industry and a breeding ground for future hits and the new generation of electronic music talent.
Named after Garrix’s father’s stamp auction company, what initially started as a rather small label with only a few signed artists, has now turned into a global brand with enthralling artists like Julian Jordan, Matisse & Sadko, EAUXMAR, Justin Mylo, Brooks, Dillon Francis, and, of course, Martin Garrix himself under its wing. Effortlessly combining all types of electronic dance music, be it House, Future Bass or Trap, while also gaining international recognition and festival slots all over the world, and still putting their artists and their work first, STMPD RCRDS has taken on nothing less but the evolutionary lead role in the industry’s play. In just five years, Garrix has already managed to reach his initial vision he had when he first bought Amsterdam’s legendary FC Walvisch recording complex. In 2020, STMPD Recording Studios officially opened and have now become a welcoming home not only for music-related artists but for any creatives from various disciplines.
To celebrate the fifth birthday of the Dutch powerhouse, we’ve put together our very own exclusive playlist of our favourite STMPD releases from the past five years. From Martin Garrix’s latest surprise hit ‘Pressure’, to Osrin’s wavey sounds on ‘Highway’ and the gritty, addictive beats on Brooks’ ‘Boomerang’ and AREA21’s cool ‘Spaceships’ – this playlist has got it all. We might not be able to meet at festival fields and feel the bass move our bodies right now, but a little bedroom dance party never hurt anyone, right? Happy Birthday STMPD RCRDS – here’s to the future of electronic music and many more years to come.
